The Art Of Double Tapping Your IPhone Screen

If you have owned your iPhone for more than a week, than you have slowly begun to master all of the various applications and features within this phone. But did you know there are several tricks that can actually enhance your iPhone experience?

These tricks are possible because of the built-in capabilities of the iPhone. Many people eventually discover these tricks, but here is your chance to speed up your learning of some of the secrets of your phone.

With a product like the iPhone, there are so many obvious and useful features that it is easy to miss out on the more hidden ones. And even when you begin to grasp the multi-layer experience that the iPhone can provide, there are, trust me, more tricks waiting to be revealed.

As you first play with an iPhone, you probably have noticed that you never really have to double-tap a single item. This makes it seem that everything on this interface reacts with a simple one-tap motion. However, there are three main interfaces that do react to double-tapping differently, than when you just ap once on the screen. The first of these functions where double-tapping comes into play involves those times where you are watching a video on the iPhone.

Have you noticed that when you are watching a movie on your iPhone, the screen is showing a letterbox image? This is when there are two black lines under and above the picture. This gives you a wider view as if you were seeing the movie at a theater. This is how the director created the film, and how it was originally shot. Yet, the overall images are tiny bit smaller. And there are some individuals who just cannot stand the letterbox format on while they are watching a film.

The double-tapping feature comes to the rescue. While the is running movie, simply double tap the screen, and you will eliminate the letterbox view. You wilt now be watching a full screen version. One drawback of the full screen version when using this feature is that if the movie is subtitled, the full screen mode may cut-off the words.

To undo the full screen mode, simply double tap the screen again and the letterbox format will be restored . This is one of the greatest features on the iPhone; however, it is also one of the lesser talked about. This is a great feature for film buffs.

The double-tap feature is also used on many other programs throughout your iPhone. You will find these features in the Photos, Safaris and Google Maps programs. Generally, with these applications, the double tap feature basically allows you to zoom up or down the image on the iPhone screen.

Say, you wanted to get a better view of the picture that is on the main page of The New York Times online edition. Then double tap the picture, and the image is magnified two-times. Everything that is being magnified on your screen is done by two.

What else is there to discover? Just as single tapping allows you to do many things on your iPhone. The double tap feature will open you up to a who new range of uses. So grab your iPhone and begin testing it out... With a tap, tap here and a tap, tap there...
